West Dorset Mencap welcomed Paul Goad, Vice-Chairman of The Wessex Beardsmen to their shop in East Street this week.  In 2024, the Beardsmen held their 6th annual Beard and Moustache competition at the 94 Club in Yeovil.  The event welcomes competitors and supporters from all over the country as they compete in classes including Best Full Beard, Freestyle Beard and Ready, Steady, Grow!  Each year the Beardsmen nominate a charity who will receive a donation and in 2024 West Dorset Mencap were chosen, a charity which is close to Paul and his family’s hearts.

Lucy Hart from West Dorset Mencap said, ‘We are so grateful to The Wessex Beardsmen for their very generous donation of £770.  It will be used to support people who live in Bridport and the surrounding area and who have a learning disability’.
