The West Dorset Mencap committee would like to thank the local community for their recent support. In particular they would like to thank Waitrose, Bridport store and their shoppers for donating over £600 as part of the stores Community Matters scheme. West Dorset Mencap, Vice Chairman, Linda Simpson said ‘We are extremely grateful for the donation from Waitrose and would like to thank everyone who voted for our charity. All of the funds we raise through donations and items sold in the shop are used to assist people with learning disabilities who live in the West Dorset area so we greatly appreciate the support of our local community’. In addition, we would like thank the members of Bothenhampton Knit & Natter. The group nominated West Dorset Mencap as their chosen charity and all funds they raise at local sales is very generously donated to the charity. In the last year they have raised over £700 and West Dorset Mencap would like to thank them very much for this. Our charity shop next to the East Street car park continues to do very well thanks to shop manager Kelly Dittrich and all of the volunteers who assist with the day to day running. We are very grateful for any donations (excluding electrical items) and any wool will be passed on to Bothenhampton Knit and Natter.
