Mencap is the voice of learning disability and are here to support the 1.5 million people in the UK with a learning disability as well as their families. Their vision is a world where they are valued equally and included. Every person with a learning disability – no matter how severe their disability – can live fulfilled and independent lives. They just need the right support.
As one of the largest and longest serving disability charities in the sector, Mencap deliver vital services for people with a learning disability of all ages and their families. They also challenge current policy and practice where it is not working. Collectively, their work addresses the barriers people with a learning disability encounter on a daily basis, in the short and long term. Mencap would like to hear from you if you would be interested in delivery Learning Disability Sessions in West Dorset.
Mencap would like to work with you as part of your Personal, Social & Health Education curriculum in 2015 / 2016 initially to deliver Learning Disability Awareness Sessions which may lead to linking with your local Mencap organisation and developing social cohesion plans. Learning disability awareness can be undertaken in a number of ways but Mencap always aim to have a person (s) with a learning disability working alongside them when delivering.
